RoboCluster has taken the initiative for promotion of the robotics sector - a sector that has been growing rapidly over the last 10 years. The driving force behind the development of RoboCluster has been a unique collaboration between the internationally recognized A. P. Moller Maersk owned Odense Steel Shipyard and The Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute at University of Southern Denmark. The collaboration formed an entire sub-industry of highly skilled robotics and automation companies on Funen, and in the spring of 2002 the RoboCluster initiative was launched to promote the business initiatives in the robotics sector, supported by Odense Municipality and Funen County.

Today's result is an unique cross collaboration between high-tech experts, developers, scientists, researchers, engineers, manufactures and suppliers within the field of robotics, and the region takes up an international position - especially in terms of research and development.  Sector experts point out that it is the very concentration of enterprises and research institutions within the field of robotics, which is unique, and it paved the way for the creation of RoboCluster.
