RoboCluster MedicNet
|
MedicNet is a Danish network that unifies partners from hospitals, companies, universities, knowledge institutions, public authorities, etc. who want to realise the great potential for service robots in the healthcare sector. MedicNet supports collaboration and synergies between the members and set focus on the technological possibilities in the healthcare sector. This is done in order to map the demand and visualize were healthcare robotics can be set in use and thereby initiate the development and use of new robotics solutions. The members are offered workshops, company visits, national and international study trips and professional sparring and evaluation on ideas for healthcare robotics. |

Facts on Healthcare in Denmark
In MedicNet, we see robots as part of the solution when the Danish state is to meet the future demand for public healthcare. We need robots for operations, rehabilitations, transport, cleaning, etc. in order to maintain a high level of quality and free access to healthcare services in the country. And the potential is large.
• Denmark has a public financed healthcare system of high standard
• All citizens have equal access to the healthcare services
• The welfare system is under pressure as the demography is changing. The number of citizens over the age of 70 is rapidly growing and this increases the demand for healthcare services. All the while a declining proportion of the younger population raise concerns regarding the ability to attract a sufficient number of new health workers
• Already today there is a lark of nurses, doctors and other health workers in Denmark
• The Danish state invests heavily in the building of new hospitals in the next 10 years
